Sawyer looked good at the prospect camp. I guess its just a number crunch at Rockford, but I didnt and don't think it should be Sawyer getting crunched.

Jermaine Domish, for example, why is he playing any games over Sawyer?

Another example of failed player evaluation by the Blackhawks (e.g Lasse Kukkonen trade). Sawyer should be in Rockford.
Giza
I definitely agree. He should have gotten the call before Domish. Maybe Rockford has too many players with similar capabilities though. I have a good NHL feeling about him.

When asked about Sawyer in camp, I seem to remember Savvy making a comment something like "hes an offensive player". Now does that mean he doesn't think Sawyer can play defense. I don't know. Evidently the brain trust didn't think enough of him to start at Rockford.

And why did Savvy bench Kukkonen? Kukkonen was traded soon after that benching (for basically NOTHING !). Maybe he thought Kukkonen was an offensive player too. Kukkonen was leading the defense in scoring at that point. Savvy has since admitted that was a mistake but its a little to late for that isn't it? Created a huge hole in terms depth which they're (Hawks braintrust) paying for now and can't seem to plug.

I disagree. Williams is looking pretty clutch from the start of this season and Johannson is very much a Kukkonen clone. With Buff and Barker waiting Kukkonen was expendable and Williams has indeed added the much needed offense that prompted this trade. (the clutch factor has been a bonus) This was a Hawk win trade-wise (so far) but it is early. (Nice to see the only team really to get burned was Detroit)

Don't be suprised if the Hawks target a D-man with a high pick in the next draft so there will still be lot's of depth on D. It's an increase in quality, either by addition (of someone better than Kuk) or improved development of Buff, Barker, Hjalmarsson that is needed....not quantity...and not Kukkonen. There were 9 D-man listed on the Hawk roster (Richmond, Johannson, and Zuyzin in the pressbox) for the St.Louis game.
Between The Pipes
No way is Johansson a Kukkonen clone - they don't even play close to similar games.

Kukkonen was a defensive defenseman - the most cautious guy on the ice and never took a chance offensively - despite leading the Hawks defense in goals - which wasn't a hard thing.

MagJo is FAR from being steady in his own end, and he does pinch and take chances. Hes an offensive D-man.

Sawyer and Marr were called up to the Hogs. Marr played Friday. Sawyer on Saturday
